Journey through Emotions: A new online exhibition
This online exhibition was created by 29 young people as part of two Work Experience Days. The exhibition explores the emotions that objects in our collection can inspire. Whilst we can be tempted to only look at objects that make us feel happy and inspired, there is a value too in looking at objects that can inspire negative emotions.
In creating this exhibition the young people were divided into groups of three and four. Each group was given a section of an Emotions Wheel. This groups the emotions we feel into 7 categories: Happy, Surprised, Bad, Fearful, Angry and Disgusted. Within each category there are many more complex emotions. For example; shocked, energetic and excited are all part of the surprised category. Each group chose an emotion from their category that they felt people should engage with. They then selected four objects from our collection that can inspire their chosen emotion.
All emotions and objects in this gallery were chosen by the group of young people. All the object labels and interpretation reflect how these individuals each responded to our collection. We hope you enjoy exploring this exhibition and looking at objects from our collection through the lens of emotions.
