Arts Award Discover at Home
Are you feeling creative? Are you feeling artistic? Are you ready to take on our Family Summer Challenge?
This summer the Jewish Museum challenges you to take part in Arts Award Discover at Home! In this fun activity you will learn more about the arts around you, discover famous artists and take part in a fun, creative activity. When you have finished your logbook you will be sent a nationally recognised certificate.
How do I take part?
To complete Arts Award Discover Summer Challenge you will need a splash of creativity, a dollop of imagination and of course our Jewish Museum logbook. This logbook will guide you through the four activities that make up this fun summer challenge. You can print out a PDF of the logbook or save a copy of the Word File to fill it out online.
When you have finished your logbook email it to [email protected]. (If you have printed out your logbook and written on it, just take a photo of each page and email them to us) We will then send you your Arts Award Discover certificate. Arts Award Discover is a nationally recognised award for engaging with and participating in the arts. Using funding from Arts Council England, the Jewish Museum London is pleased to be able to offer up to 50 certificates this summer.
How do I do the activities?
There are four activities to do in our logbook. Here are some tips on how to do them…
Discover the Arts
The arts are all around us! Music, Painting, Literature, Pottery and many more. Go on a scavenger hunt round your house, or round your local area and see how many you can find. Circle any art forms you can see in the Discover the Arts section of your logbook.
Part A – Take Part and Part B – Find out More
It is time to be creative! Take part in an arts activity and find out more about a famous artist. Every Sunday from 9 – 30 August at 11.30am we will be running our Families Live: Museum Mornings sessions. In each session you will find out about a famous artist, learn about a type of art and have a go at trying it yourself! From drawing, to photography and painting, there will be lots of activities you can do. Watch the video and use the information to help you fill out Parts A and B of your logbook.
If you can’t join us live, all our activities will be available on our Facebook page to do whenever works best for you. You can watch our new videos live and watch past activities here
Sunday 9 August: Be inspired by artist Simeon Solomon and create your own sketches.
Sunday 16 August: Explore the photographs of Boris Bennett , a famous East End photographer, and have a go at taking your own photos in his style.
Sunday 23 August: Discover a beautiful painting by Hermann Junker and paint your own scene.
Part C: Share
It’s time to share what you have found out. You could discuss it with your family or send a photo of what you have made to a friend. You can share however you would like! Record how you shared your knowledge by filling out Part C of your logbook.
