Jewish Museum London is operating as a museum without walls, as we work towards a new permanent home. In the meantime you can find us in a range of places, both in person and online.

Reform Hanukah Lighting

Object number
1474.11

Photographer
Sarah Friedmann

Object Information

The picture shows members of Milton Keynes and District Reform lighting Hanukah candles. Hanukah is the Jewish festival of light.

The people in the picture are part of the Reform Jewish community who believe that the Torah is G-d-inspired and written by humankind. They believe Judaism must adapt to the ever changing world, and think that some commandments are not timeless. Some streams of Judaism lack representation but Judaism and how it is lived varies immensely within the Jewish spectrum. Not every Jewish person is the same, Jewish people have different beliefs and traditions.
