On 3 September 1939, Britain declared war on Germany and one year later, on 7 September 1940, the Blitz began . Despite the huge shift these events had in the life of British people, they still found ways to carry on with their normal lives. Many Jewish people continued to observe festivals and celebrating their bar/bat mitzvahs as best as they could, whilst adapting to the many changes in the country. Watch this video to find out more about the lives of the Anglo-Jewish community during this era.

All speakers in this video are part of AJEX, the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and women.
