Lisbeth Sokal’s Apron

Lisbeth was born in Austria to a Jewish family. Her family were not strongly religious, and rarely went to synagogue. Due to rising antisemitism, in 1938 her family tried to escape Austria. Lisbeth applied for a  domestic visa, which granted her entry into the UK to become a domestic servant. Her mother sent her this apron to help her with her new role.
