This exhibition in the Jewish Museum’s cafe sees British artist Miranda Lopatkin display her ethereal and ghostly visions of starlets and sportsmen from a bygone era who are now transformed, all be it through distorted projections that mimic the distortions of time and memory.
Miranda Lopatkin will display 6 works made from a very special slide library gifted to her. The archive contains many iconic images of famous faces past and present. Unfortunately many of the details of the actors have been lost, so Miranda projects them on to new models, literally breathing new life into the works.
Highlights include The Glance, a largely black and white photograph depicting an unknown starlet ‘tattooed’ on to a models arm. The Glance was also selected to be part of the Ben Uri Gallery’s International Jewish Artist of the Year competition in 2012.
