Israel Zangwill – 150 years

17 January 2014 - 21 February 2014

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the author Israel Zangwill’s birth. Having published nearly 30 books and 25 plays over a career spanning half a century, his most famous works, ‘Children of the Ghetto’ and ‘The Melting Pot’ provide a fascinating insight into the issues of migration and assimilation, and reflect his own political and social beliefs as a Jewish man living in the East End. By examining objects from the Jewish Museum’s archives, this temporary display case will offer visitors the chance to see a less well known side of Zangwill, specifically that of his relationship with his children and agent.
