18 August @ 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm

Join Jewish Museum Milwaukee for a virtual tour and talk about their powerful exhibition The Girl in the Diary. In 1945 a Soviet doctor found a school notebook in the liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. It was a diary written by teenager Rywka Lipszyc in the Łódź Ghetto – the testament of a young girl who lost her siblings and parents, but never lost hope. More than seventy years later Rywka’s recounting of daily life in brutal conditions and coming of age amid unimaginable atrocity was brought to light. Through words given voice, contemporary interpretations, photographs, and historical and intimate artefacts, this exhibit bears witness to the personal dimensions of the Holocaust. Created by the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow, Poland, the exhibit is currently on display at Jewish Museum Milwaukee, making its U.S. premiere. This talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
