Are you passionate about creative learning opportunities? Are you excited to find out more about cultural, historical and heritage sites? Would you like to develop skills to help prepare you for work in museums?
The Jewish Museum London offers 1-2 week Work Experience placements for school/college students aged 14-18 years old during term time. The Jewish Museum London offers work experience as a way of engaging young people, especially from local schools, in the work of the museum; of providing interesting learning experiences that will have a lasting impact and as a way to increase the diversity of the organisation. We aim to inspire and raise the aspirations of the young people who choose to complete work experience at the museum and provide them with personalised opportunities to upskill.
What the placement would involve
Your placement would be mainly with the Learning Team. The Learning Team welcome around 19,500 students from ages 5-18 every year to participate in workshops concerning Judaism, History, the Holocaust and Arts. The majority of your time will be spent in workshops. This will initially involve shadowing workshops and assisting with set-up and take-down, but depending on your goals for the placement will involve leading tours around the galleries for student groups and working alongside interns. Additionally, you will spend some time working in the office with the team, assisting in the development of resources used for workshops.
We would like to make your Work Experience as specific as possible to the skills and knowledge you want to gain from the placement. To this end before you start we will find out more about the knowledge and skills you wish to develop during the placement and organise meetings with a different department and set a personal project based on your preferences
