Learning and Engagement Volunteers

Learning Volunteers

We are not currently looking for new Learning and Engagement Volunteers.

Learning and Engagement is a big part of what we do at the Jewish Museum London.

Our Schools team welcomes thousands of students each year for workshops about Jewish Faith, Jewish History and/ or the Holocaust. Students visit us from around the UK and we welcome groups from nursery age to university groups. Our workshops are very interactive and can include object handling, food tasting, arts and crafts, text studies, survivor testimonies and exploring our Museum galleries. More information on our Schools programme can be found here.

On Sundays and during School Holidays we run family activities. These include a mix of fun activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, gallery trails and object handling. We explore different themes with recent activities being on the themes of LGBTQ+ History, Strong Women in the Passover Story, and Jewish Communities around the World. Find out about upcoming family activities here.

What does this team of Volunteers do?

Tasks may include:

  • Supporting students during School Workshops e.g. introducing them to the galleries, answering questions and helping with their worksheets.
  • Supporting Family Festivals- this could include helping children with Arts and Crafts activities and welcoming families to the Museum

When can I volunteer?

Our school workshops take place in term time and our family activities in school holidays.

Each month we email round which dates we have school workshops and family activities booked. You can then choose which sessions you want to do. Some volunteers will always choose primary school workshops, some always Jewish History, some always family activities and some like to do a mix of everything- it is up to you!

Schools often book a morning and an afternoon workshop. You could join us for both or pick one workshop. Family Activities are usually for either a morning or an afternoon.

What can I expect from the Jewish Museum London as a Volunteer?

  • We will provide training for every task you do.
  • We will regularly review volunteer tasks and ask for your feedback to improve and evolve.
  • You will have a dedicated volunteer coordinator who will be available to provide support and answer any questions.
  • We really value our volunteers and to say thank you we offer perks for volunteers. This includes hosting exclusive events for our volunteers and discounts in our shop.

Is this the right Volunteer Opportunity for me?

There are many ways volunteers can support our museums and different volunteer opportunities may suit different people. We think this opportunity would suit someone who is:

  • Enjoys interacting with children of different ages
  • Interested in Jewish History, Faith and/or Holocaust Education

How do I get involved?

We are not currently looking for new Learning and Engagement Volunteers but we will announce on this page when we are.
