Discover how food shapes Jewish identity and practice. This workshop offers you and your students a chance to try and taste something new!
Explore artefacts and delicacies relating to the festivals of Shabbat, Passover and Hanukah and find out why food is so central to Jewish traditions and culture. Students will also find out if the contents of their kitchen cupboards at home meet the requirements of keeping Kosher (the dietary laws of kashrut) and how this might impact on daily life for Jewish people from all backgrounds.
Reflect on the centrality of food and symbolism in Judaism and how this compares to other cultures and traditions.
